CNN has faced mounting criticism over its coverage of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the lead-up to the March coup attempt, which was staged in response to the government’s crackdown on anti-government protests.
CNN and other major networks have been heavily criticized for failing to report on the coup plotters, who were eventually arrested.
CNN said on Monday that the network would begin airing more material related to the coup attempt.
“The coup plot was an operation of international terrorists who were in the process of taking over the country,” CNN Chief Foreign Correspondent John King said in a statement.
“Our focus now is to expose the global network of global terrorism behind this coup and the people behind it.”
CNN also said it was moving to change its name to CNN International.
