Most of the time, people in the U.S. and Canada are the first people to notice that Facebook has a video advertisement on their page.
But now, it appears that some countries are getting into the act.
Google Trends has found that some people in some European countries are actively using the social network to promote their own products, but they’re doing so without the help of Facebook’s advertising partners.
Google also found that people in other European countries were also active in promoting their own brands on Facebook.
A handful of countries were particularly active, such as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
“These are countries that were not only very active in this space, but where the majority of the ads were done on the platform,” says Andrew Hulshoff Polanco, an associate professor at the University of British Columbia and lead author of the paper.
“They were the ones where Facebook was active, and there was a lot of attention to the social media platform.”
