A woman has filed a hate crime complaint against the mayor of Montreal after a man was allegedly attacked and robbed for wearing a hijab.
The man was walking with a friend on Saturday morning when he was approached by two people in a car who allegedly asked him if he had a hijab, the Montreal Gazette reported on Monday.
The men allegedly pushed him and assaulted him, with one of them allegedly trying to grab his hijab, according to the report.
After he was struck, the woman told police that the man ran away.
The other man fled, but was later found with serious injuries, the report said.
The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
